2nd Euro-CNS Basic Course
in Neuropathology
22 - 26 March 2010, Aachen, Germany

Organized under the auspices of the European Confederation of Neuropathological Societies (Euro-CNS), supported by the European Graduate School of Neuroscience (EURON).

Target group
The course (in English) is intended for trainees in general pathology, neuropathology, neurology or neurosurgery but also for neurobiologists and PhD students in neurological sciences. Specifically those who, in the course of their PhD research, will be involved with the neuropathology of, for example, neurodegenerative diseases, developmental diseases, brain tumours or white matter diseases.

Program
The program will consist of teaching sessions in the mornings, and sessions with gross neuropathology and histology (slide viewing and case discussions) in the afternoons. Topics to be covered are: general pathology of the central nervous system, muscle, nerve, tumours, neurodegenerative diseases, vascular pathology, infections of the CNS, human prion diseases, white matter diseases, metabolic diseases, developmental neuropathology and epilepsy. On one of the evenings there is a possibility to bring up intriguing or puzzling clinicopathological cases.

Registration
The registration fee is 650 Euro for Euro-CNS members and 700 Euro for non-members. For a limited number of students there is the possibility to attend for one or two days only, please ask (see contact details below). The registration deadline is 10 March 2010 (or sooner if the maximum number of registrants has been reached). Grants (submission closed)
Several grants will be made available by Euro-CNS to help cover the expenses of a few young trainees in neuropathology (or a related discipline) from Euro-CNS member countries. You are eligible to apply if you live in and are undergoing training in a European member country, not older than 30, and fit within the target group of the Basic Course (see description on website). The grant consists of a 400 Euro discount on the registration fee. Recipients will still be responsible for their travel and accommodation arrangements and expenses. Accommodation
Upon registration, accommodation will be made available at fees ranging between 40 and 70 Euro per night.

Certification
Participants will receive a Euro-CNS Basic Neuropathology Course certificate.

Accreditation
Accreditation is being requested from the UEMS EACCME (European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education).
