Euro-CNS Neuropathology Course "Tumours of the Central Nervous System". In three days this course and workshop covers the current state of the art of classification (typing and grading) of CNS tumours, supplemented by lectures about clinical and neuroradiological aspects, and molecular diagnostics relevant for daily clinical practice. The lectures will be given by a group of well known surgical neuropathologists. Histological slides of the whole spectrum of CNS tumours are available, and multiple time slots are planned for personal practical exercise as well as for interaction with the experts. The course is intended for all involved in the pathological diagnosis of brain tumours in biopsy specimens: trainees and specialists in pathology, neurosurgery, neurology or neuro-oncology. Satellite of the 7th FENS Forum of European Neuroscience "Translational aspects of proteolysis in neurodegenerative diseases". Protein quality control systems are essential for neuronal function. In neurodegenerative diseases these systems are  partial dysfunctional. In the present satellite failures of the main protein degradation systems will be discussed, their downstream consequences for synaptic plasticity and strategies for therapy. BNS Winter Meeting 2007, London, UK, 10-12 January 2007.
Proceedings will commence on the morning of Wednesday 10th January with a symposium entitled “100 Years of Alzheimer’s Disease: An International Perspective”. This will be followed by the Alfred Meyer Memorial Lecture, to be given by Professor Bernardino Ghetti, the president of the International Society of Neuropathology. The title of the lecture will be: Dementias: a wider view. On Thursday and Friday there will be a full programme of talks and posters and the Society dinner will take place on Thursday evening. 45th Annual Dr. Kenneth M. Earle Memorial Neuropathology Review, Hyatt Regency Bethesda Hotel, Bethesda, Maryland, USA, 19 -23 February, 2007.
Kenneth M. Earle, M.D., former Chair, Department of Neuropathology, initiated a course designed to prepare pathologists, neurologists and neurosurgeons for specialty board certification. XXIInd Winter-Meeting of the Swiss Society of Neuropathology, St. Moritz, Switzerland, from 27-30 March, 2008. The venue is Hotel Laudinella, which has been selected for its idyllic setting within the beautiful scenery of the Swiss Alps. The relaxed meeting atmosphere will also provide plenty of opportunities for stimulating scientific discussions and social interactions on the Corvatsch and the slopes of the nearby Corviglia ski resort. The 2008 meeting will focus on the following topics: Neurodegeneration, Tumors of the Central and Peripheral Nervous System, Skeletal Muscle/Peripheral Nerve Pathology, Mechanisms of Disease. The IXth European Congress of Neuropathology will be held in Athens, Greece, from 8-10 May 2008. It is preceded by a CME Neuropathology Training Course from 6-8 May.
The congress is hosted by the Hellenic Society of Neuropathology. The program will have three parts: "Tumours of the CNS", "Epilepsy and Neuropathology" and "Free Topics". Abstracts will be called for in all categories, as usual. The program will include 9 plenary lectures, 13 mini symposia/workshops and provide excellent opportunity for researchers to present an abstract (poster/oral). The congress will be preceded by a pre-congress CME Course "Tumours of the CNS". The extended abstract deadline for the Congress abstracts is 20 January 2008. Update in Neuromuscular Disorders, London, UK, 16-20 June 2008.
This new course is the result of the merging of two popular yearly courses with an established international reputation: 1. the “Hammersmith Hospital update” in the latest research aspects, clinical and management advances, related to childhood neuromuscular disorders and 2. the “Institute of Neurology Neuromuscular short course”, a stimulating update on adult inherited and acquired neuromuscular disorders. BrainNet-Europe Course “Harmonisation of neuropathological diagnostics of neurodegenerative disorders, a practical approach”
This course is held under auspices of Euro-CNS, and intended for Neuropathologists with some years of experience in diagnostics. The course will include speakers/tutors from Europe and USA summarising the current diagnostic strategies of neurodegenerative disorders such as primary and secondary tauopathies, synucleinopathies other proteinopathies and prion disorders. The course program will include didactic lectures and there will be allocated time for individual viewing of representative cases and joint viewing of cases around multi-headed microscopes. The goal is to facilitate a high level of harmonisation of diagnostic practise in diagnostics. Organizers: Prof Irina Alafuzoff, Prof Herbert Budka, Gabor Kovacs. Registration: 30 participants can be accepted, and the acceptance is in order of receipt. Prof Irina Alafuzoff receives the enrolments. The course is free of charge, but participants have to cover their own travel and accommodation.

54th Annual meeting of the German Society for Neuropathology and Neuroanatomy (DGNN). The meeting titled "Neuropathology in the 21st Century" provides a state of the art platform for scientific exchange in all fields of current neuropathology, ranging from basic research to clinical diagnostics. A particular focus will be placed on the exciting recent progress in neurodegenerative diseases, brain tumors, stem cells, autoimmune disorders and neuromuscular diseases. First Neuropathology Meeting organized jointly by the Department of Neurology, Medical University of Sofia, and the International Society of Neuropathology (ISN).

The day, which aims in particular at junior neuroscientists and trainee neuropathologists, represents an introduction to clinical and basic neuropathology by offering a number of lectures on topics of large interest to the audience. These include a key note lecture by Prof. Herbert Budka (Neuropathology, the Missing Link Between Basic and Clinical Neurosciences), followed by 4 lectures on neurodegenerative disorders, tumours of the CNS, inflammatory disorders and neuromuscular diseases. Each of the topics will include an introduction by a member of the host Society and a main lecture by a member of the ISN on the neuropathology of the topic itself.
