General

The Euro-CNS neuropathology training course “Developmental Neuropathology” will be held from 29-31 January 2025 at the Amsterdam UMC (venue AMC) in the Netherlands.

It consists of lectures with an emphasis on teaching. Practical sessions are part of the course. You will have access to a digital platform with case material. This will enable participants to also evaluate the case material after the course. We recommend bringing a tablet or laptop for digital slide viewing.

Course location

The course will be held at the  Academic University Medical Center (Amsterdam UMC), location AMC, Meibergdreef 9, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Location in Google Maps. Course room:Fonteynzaal (building/floor C0).

Location in Google Mapshttps://maps.app.goo.gl/eWpofTRc7f9nZAGo6
The pinpoint at the AMC is not the exact place of our course room. Please read here how to get from the Metro Station ‘Holendrecht’ to the right place in the Amsterdam UMC (AMC)

When you arrive at the metro station Holendrecht: when you get off the metro, walk in the same direction that your metro continues to ride, and take the exit on that side.  Follow the stairs down and go right in the direction of the hospital. Just walk in the direction of the AMC and follow the signs ‘patienten/bezoekers‘ (patients/ visitors) to get to the main entrance. From the main entrance follow the sign ‘Voetenplein”. You will also see a bookshop “Bruna”, turn right just before the bookshop and after a few steps you will find the Fonteynzaal (course room) located on the left.

Dinner Venue (Thursday 30 January, 7 pm) (also useful for those who booked a room at the Fletcher Hotel)

Address: Schepenbergweg 50
1105 AT Amsterdam

This is a 15 minutes walk from the metro station and the Amsterdam UMC (AMC) . For the (complimentary) course dinner, you may want to join the group and we will walk together to the Fletcher Hotel (restaurant) after the last session of the day (scheduled to finish at 16:45 hrs). Or you can wait a bit and come to the Fletcher Hotel at 7 pm. The walk between Fletcher and Amsterdam UMC (AMC) (or Metro Station) is a straight line and takes about 15 minutes. If you are coming from the course room: Exit the AMC via the main entrance/exit, go to the left via the pedestrian walkway (foot path), stay on it/follow it until you see the Fletcher Hotel tower in front of you (=you will see  this Blue high tower hotel very soon). Just cross the street (large crossing with traffic/pedestrian lights) when you are almost at the Fletcher and walk towards the Fletcher. The ‘Sky Restaurant Pi’ is on the 18th floor.

Accommodation

As the requirements and budgets of the participants are usually very diverse, we ask to arrange your own accommodation, for example via booking.com. There are many hotels in the area, in all budget categories. We recommend choosing a hotel that is at walking distance from a Metro Station.
The Fletcher Hotel is at walking distance from the Amsterdam UMC (15 minutes). Metro and Train Station Holendrecht are next to the venue. Metro station ‘Bullewijk’ is one stop further, and Metro station ‘Arena’ is 2 stops away. You can also decide to stay in the city center, but generally the hotels are more expensive there.
