Meetings and Courses

BNS Summer School, 11-13 June 2024, Cirencester, UK
The topic for the summer school is “Technology advancements pushing the boundaries of neuropathology diagnostics and research”. Advancements in novel technologies over the last decade and their implementation in neuroscience have significantly accelerated neuroscience research and the development of diagnostic tools in neuropathology. Many of these technologies have transformed the capabilities of a neuroscientist and neuropathologist in the 21st century.
In this summer school, the audience will have the opportunity to learn about novel technologies paving the way for innovative neuroscience research and how these tools and approaches are implemented in diagnostic practice and study for a range of neurological diseases. Experts in the corresponding field will explain each tool’s scientific principles, followed by an overview of the potential utility, with examples of application in research and diagnostics of neurodegenerative diseases and neurooncology. The course is organized by the British Neuropathological Society.  Click here for the programme and registration details.

Northern Lights Neuroscience Symposium, 26-27 September 2024, Finland
The Northern Lights Neuroscience Symposium entitled “Expanding Spectrum of Common Dementia Disorders” will be held from 26-27 September 2024, in Hanasaari, Finland. The meeting brings together researchers and medical professionals interested in novel disease entities and subtypes of common dementia disorders. Keynote lectures on neuropathological and clinical aspects of new entities such as LATE and PART as well as subtypes of AD and LBD are scheduled for a two day event in Hanasaari, a small island located a short distance away from the center of Helsinki with the beautiful Finnish archipelago just outside the window.

The Scandinavian Neuropathological Society has organized a series of symposia called “Northern Lights Neuroscience Symposium” since the 1980s. At the meetings the scientific program focuses on one single topic of significant neuropathological interest presented by top international speakers. Click here to visit the Symposium website.
