Pre-congress course ‘Tumors of the Central Nervous System’, Odense, 1-3 June 2020

The updated Euro-CNS neuropathology training course “Tumors of the Central Nervous System” will be held from 1-3 June 2020 at the Odense University Hospital in Odense, Denmark. The course precedes the 12th European Congress of Neuropathology 2020 (ECNP2020), which starts after the course and is held from 3-6 June.
In three days this course and workshop covers the WHO classification (typing and grading) of CNS tumors, supplemented by lectures on clinical and neuroradiological aspects, and molecular diagnostics relevant for daily clinical practice. The lectures will be given by a group of well known surgical neuropathologists. Histological slides of the whole spectrum of CNS tumors are available, and multiple time slots are planned for personal practical exercise as well as for interaction with the experts.
The same course was held earlier in Helsinki (2000), Graz (2004), Amsterdam (2005), Athens (May 2008), Amsterdam again (June 2010) and Zagreb (September 2012), Odense/Denmark in 2015 and in Amsterdam (2016 and 2018).
The course is intended for all involved in the pathological diagnosis of brain tumors: trainees and specialists in pathology, neuropathology, neurosurgery, neurology or neuro-oncology.
Accreditation (ECMEC) will be requested from the European Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (EACCME). CME accreditation granted by the UEMS-EACCME® provides a guarantee to participants from all over the world that the content of the CME provided is of a high quality, unbiased and didactic and, for European doctors, that this quality will be recognised in their home country. There is a mutual recognition agreement with the American Medical Association (AMA). Participants will receive an EACCME certificate at the end of the course.

- newly recognized rare glioma variants and pitfalls in the histopathological diagnosis
- histopathological aspects of non-glial intracranial tumors as meningiomas
- tumors encountered in the brain and her coverings.

Important note: Participants who have also registered and paid for the European Congress of Neuropathology 2020, are entitled to a refund of 150 Euro of the Course fee. They will receive this refund from the Course Administrator in cash – at the beginning of the course. Proof of payment of the Congress (ECNP2020) registration should be presented on-site. We will also do a cross-check with the congress registration list. If you have registered for the congress and canceled in a later stage, we cannot issue any refund.

Travel grants Euro-CNS
A limited number of grants of € 550 is available for young trainees in neuropathology. Preference is given to applicants from emerging countries in Europe. Candidates should be under 35 years of age and member of Euro-CNS. A letter from the head of department confirming trainee status should be submitted to the Course Administrator. The grant application deadline is 30 March 2020. No applications will be accepted after this date. Notifications will be sent a day later. If you apply for a grant – please indicate this in the online registration form. There are no separate grant application forms. The grant amount will be deducted from your registration fee.
Travel grants International Society of Neuropathology
If you are a trainee in neuropathology in a low-income country (and non-European/non-North American), we recommend that you apply for an ISN award that will help with covering the cost of travel and participation. For application details and eligibility please see the ISN website. Please note that the applications for ISN grants are handled and administered by ISN and that you need to register normally for the Euro-CNS course.
